TH transporters in myelin formation and regeneration
Prof. Dr. Heike Heuer & Prof. Dr. Daniel R. Engel
TH regulates myelination in developing and mature CNS. Here, we aim to unravel the cell-intrinsic functions of the TH transporters Mct8 and Oatp1c1 during oligodendrocyte differentiation by studying developmental myelination and myelin repair in cell-specific Mct8/Oatp1c1-deficient mice. We will also test whether novel TH analogues can drive proper myelination in Mct8/Oatp1c1 DKO mice and may thus be considered as treatment option for patients with MCT8 deficiency (Allan-Herndon-Dudley Syndrome).
