Hepatic TH signalling in acute and acute-on-chronic liver injury

We hypothesise that TH improves hepatocyte survival and proliferation, steatosis, and inflammation in acute and acute-on-chronic liver failure (ALF and ACLF). Precise characterisation of local TH action will be performed in patient samples and distinct animal models of ALF and ACLF in which cell death and regeneration versus sterile and infection-complicated inflammation are predominant, in order to define targeted, cell-type and TR isoform-specific therapeutic opportunities in these scenarios.
