Impact of TH transport on seizure generation

Human MCT8 patients demonstrate a pronounced seizure susceptibility of yet unknown etiology. Here, we will analyse how TH transport defects in different neuronal populations contribute to this phenotype. To this end, we will compare Mct8/Oatp1c1 DKO mice to mice lacking both TH transporters in inhibitory or excitatory neurons only. We will further unravel changes in the TH transporter deficient brain following seizure induction and their role in the transition to epilepsy.
