The talk will cover the pathway to academic independence in Germany and it will present data on the status of female scientists. It will highlight cultural and structural phenomena contributing to gender disparity, including power dynamics and visibility traps. The talk will propose hands-on solutions, such as understanding success factors, mentoring impact, gender competence, and assertive communication, to support women in building successful scientific careers. It will emphasise the significance of realistic self-concepts, self-confidence, and goal-oriented career planning.
